| Roseann Shoaf Carmen, age 42 Roseann Shoaf Carman passed away on Sunday January 22nd, 2012 at her home. She was born in Danville, Kentucky on February 19th, 1969 and was 42. Roseann was the daughter of David Larry and Rosemary Wilson Shoaf of Liberty, Kentucky. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and a former employee of Casey County Primary Care. Survivors include her spouse Todd Carman, two sons, Lukas Todd and Landon Kerry Carman both of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, one daughter LaShaya Rose Carman of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, one brother, Larry Oscar Shoaf of Liberty and one sister, Regina Fay Shoaf of Yosemite, Kentucky , nephews and nieces, Brandon, Joseph , Jonathan, Keshea Rose, Taylor, Gabe and Jolene Shoaf, Eric, Brandon and Brittney Raney, John Baker, Katie, Christian, Conner and KarlieHundley, Kerry, Kellie and Kelsey Patten, Gabriella, Miguel and Isiah Lopez, Greatnephews and nieces, Colton and Jacob Patten and Jenna Raney.Visitation will be held after 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday January 24th, 2012 at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. William Charles "Hoppy" Baxter, age 63 William Charles “Hoppy” Baxter passed away Tuesday January 24, 2012 at the University of Kentucky Hospital . He was 63. Born April 12, 1948 in Casey County, KY, he is the son of the late Albert and Zuella Leach Baxter. He was a truck driver, member of the McKinney Christian Church and loved Tennessee Walking Horses. Survivors include his beloved wife, Phyllis “Kay” Emerson Baxter of Stanford; four special grandchildren, Gared and Gage Watkins and Ella and Maggie Luehrman; brother, Matthew Simpson of Liberty; and four sisters, Patricia Griffin of McKinney, Betty Moore of Hustonville, Faye Mabrey of Princeton , IL, and Neva Voiles of Peoria , IL. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Dallas “Duby” Baxter and Albert Baxter, Jr. and two sisters, Laverne Streevel and Dollie Hale. David Ricky Johnson, Sr. age 58 David Ricky Johnson, Sr. of Elkhorn, KY passed away Saturday January 21, 2011 at the Taylor County Hospital. He was 58. Born October 24, 1953 in Casey County, KY, he is the son of the late Abner and Allie Marie Rodgers Johnson. He was a mechanic supervisor at Fruit of the Loom and pastor of Victory Church in Campbellsville. He was the lead singer for Royal Heirs Gospel Group, a musician, song writer , and longtime minister. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Shelley and Russell Johnson and two sisters, Vergie Lyons and Retha McGuire. Survivors include wife, Kelly Gresham Johnson of Elkhorn; son, David Ricky (Donna) Johnson, Jr.; daughter, Carol (Lee) Burton of Liberty; four grandchildren, Jacob Johnson, Shelby Johnson, Nicole Burton and Nathan Burton; three brothers, Eugene Johnson of Liberty, Manuel Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio and Amos Johnson of Elkhorn; and three sisters, Louise Marcum of Dry Ridge and Dorothy Rodgers and Elva McFarland both of Liberty. Ray Lewis Overstreet, age 81 passed away at the Casey County Hospital on Thursday, January 19, 2012. He served Casey County for than 25 years as circuit court clerk, sheriff, and jailer. Born November 4, 1930, in Liberty, KY, he was the remaining survivor of ten children born to Hattie Lee Overstreet and Dudley Clarence Overstreet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Nina Russell Overstreet; his sisters, Lela Henson, Mabel Carpenter, Stella Wethington, Mildred Monk, Ida Lee Thomas; his brothers, Fay Dudley and Bobby Joe Overstreet; two brothers who died in infancy, Clarence and Robert Overstreet; and granddaughter, Haley Catherine Overstreet. He is survived by four sons, Michael (Judy) Overstreet of Louisville, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Overstreet of Stanford, and Liberty residents Craig (Marvetta) Overstreet and Steven Lee Overstreet; grandchildren, Casey Overstreet, Lacey Edwards, and Allison Overstreet; step- grandchildren, Andrea Ferrell, Luke Wilson, Chris Murphy, and Katlyn and Kelsey Bottom; and great-grandchildren, Lexie, Andrew, and Anthony Overstreet. Ray lived in Casey County his entire life except for four years in the Air Force. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1948. As a youth, he worked at the old Allen Theater and later he delivered ice to homes throughout the county. In 1950, he and his brother Fay enlisted in the US Air Force. Ray served in a military police unit while stationed in England during the Korean War. After his military service, he attended the University of Kentucky. In addition to his public service, Ray was a farmer and businessman. He owned and operated a service station, a restaurant, a farm gate business, a handle mill, a sawmill and lumber company, and a convenience store. He raised tobacco and cattle on his farm. He was elected jailer of Casey County in 1965, sheriff in 1969, and circuit court clerk in 1975, 1981, and 1987. Ray was a member of the Craftsman’s Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Casey County Alumni Hall of Fame. He was a fan of the UK Wildcats and especially enjoyed watching basketball. He attended several NCAA basketball championship games. He also enjoyed boxing, old cars, and World War II history. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2012, at McKinney- Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Homer Hecht and Bro. Casey Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with military funeral honors by the Casey County Funeral Squad. Visitation will be from 6-9 PM Saturday at the funeral home with Masonic service at 7:00 PM. Mary Helen Cochran Rodgers, age 65 Mary Helen Cochran Rodgers passed away on Monday January 16th, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Russellville, Kentucky on April 13th, 1946 and was 65. Mary was the daughter of Corbit and Christine Baskerville Dunham (both deceased), a retired cook for the Casey County School System, a member of the Westside Christian Church and attended Hope Ministry. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Denise Cochran and one brother Vernest Dunham.Survivors include her spouse Jerry Ronald Rodgers, one daughter, Melinda and Jamie Maxwell of Liberty, one son Eddie Dwayne Cochran of Liberty, step-children, Junetta and Mick West of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Jeremy Rodgers of Winchester and Josh Rodgers of Lexington, Kentucky, two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hall and AndrewMaxwell, four step-grandchildren, Zachary and Addison Rodgers and Kelsey and Colby West, two brothers, Ernest and Shelia Dunham of Indianapolis and Bennie Dunham of Nashville, Tennessee, two sisters Lucille and Melvin Johnson of Roley and Louise and Wayne Stearman of Campbellsville, Kentucky, a special sister-in law Patrica Lee and special niece Elaine Ford. McFarland of Campbellsville, Jesse McFarland of Liberty, and Chris McFarland of Campbellsville; step-children, Jackie and Sherry Lawson, both of Campbellsville; brothers, Dale, Gary, and Larry Herren; sisters, Carol Ruth Dick, Lila Owens, Diane Williams, Kay Fain, and Nancy Lee; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and loved ones. Williams, Jr., age 83 of Casey County, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012, at Casey County Hospital. Born Saturday, July 28, 1928, in Adair County, KY, he was a son of the late Shelby and Virgie Holt Williams. He was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, served our country in the Korean War, a farmer, and retired from Columbia Gulf Transmission Co. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, car racing, and ‘cutting up’ with so many. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Betty Montgomery Williams of Liberty; daughters, Cynthia Luttrell of Hustonville, Bonnie (Kevin) King of Liberty, and Amy (Johnnie) Warner of Liberty; son, Kim (Carol) Williams of Liberty; seven grandchildren, Sarah Luttrell, Chris and Michael King, Sami and Bobby Williams, Kelli Warner Gould, and Beth Ellison Long; eight great- grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Tucker of Casey Creek and Peggy Harrison of Knifley; and son-in-law, Clay Ellison of Middleburg.
