Casey County fatal collision
Liberty, Ky. (July 9, 2017) – Tpr. Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred Saturday, July 8, 2017 at approximately 8:58 PM EST, 5 miles north of Liberty on US 127. 4 vehicles were involved and 7 patients were transported to area hospitals. 26-year-old Phillip Dillon, of Danville, was pronounced dead at the Casey County Hospital by the Casey County Corner.
23-year-old Jordyn Harley and 25-year-old Monty Britton, both of Harrodsburg were transported to Ephraim McDowell where Harley was then transferred to University of Kentucky Hospital. Both are listed in stable condition.
10-year-olds Harley and John Whitaker Jr. were both transported to Casey County Hospital where they were treated and released. 36-year-old John Whitaker Sr., of Frankfort, was airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
48-year-old Jeffrey Sweet and 41-year-old Christy Sweet, both of Liberty, were airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
The cause of the collision and vehicle involvement is still being investigated. More details will be made available at a later date.
Tpr. Likins was assisted by additional members of the Kentucky State Police, Liberty Fire Department, Casey County Sheriff's Department and Rescue Squad, Russell County and Lincoln County EMS.

Liberty, Ky. (January 29, 2017) – 26-year-old John Patterson, of Somerset, and 26-year-old Leah Pollaro, of Millersburg, were arrested on January 28, 2017 at 11:10 EST and charged with Criminal Abuse 2nd Degree. Patterson was also charged with Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. The two were arrested following an investigation into Pollaro finding the couple's 11-month-old male unresponsive at the grandparent's residence on W. KY 80 in Casey County. The child was transported to Pulaski County Hospital and later flown to University of Kentucky Hospital. It was later determined that the child had ingested heroin. The child is in stable condition. Pollaro and Patterson were both lodged in the Casey County jail.
Authorities are continuing an investigation to identify the bones found Saturday 11-19-16 in a wooded area behind Dogwalk Market in Dunnville. Coroner Curt Demrow said he hopes dental records will determine a positive identification. The remains were not far from the last know point of missing person, Whitney Copely, in October 2015.

(November 23, 2016) – Human remains recovered in Casey County this past weekend have been identified as those of 24-year-old Whitney Danielle Copley who was last seen on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. The Chief Medical Examiner made the identification through dental records and notified KSP investigators today of the finding. Preliminary autopsy results also indicated no trauma to the remains. The remains will now be taken to Knoxville, TN where a forensic anthropologist will begin working on a cause of death.

Casey County death investigation
Dunnville, Ky. (July 8, 2016) - Post 15 is investigating the death of 84-year-old Nobuko M. Wilson. On Thursday, July 7th, Post 15 was contacted at approximately 5:38 PM CST in reference to a welfare check at Ms. Wilson's residence at 1275 Brock Rd. in Dunnville, KY. The caller, a neighbor, advised that they had not seen or heard from her in several days, there were no lights on and that her car was in the garage. Upon arrival, Troopers discovered evidence of what appeared to be forced entry into the residence. Upon gaining entry, they discovered Ms. Wilson deceased, on the floor.
An autopsy was performed today at the state medical examiner's office in Louisville and the preliminary autopsy results indicate that Ms. Wilson died from a heart attack. Casey County Fatal Collision Release for: Thursday, May 26, 2016
(Liberty, KY.) – Tpr. Jason Warinner is investigating a collision that occurred at approximately 8:56 PM EDT on Wednesday, May 25th, 6 miles west of Liberty on KY 70. 62-year-old David Bryant, of Liberty, was operating a westbound 2005 Ford pickup when he crossed the center-line and struck an eastbound 2008 KIA operated by 19-year-old Madison Dobson of Campbellsville. Dobson's vehicle then collided with a guardrail. Bryant's vehicle continued traveling west and collided, head-on, with an eastbound 2008 Chevy operated by 36-year-old Jeremiah Cooper, of Everson, Washington.
Bryant was pronounced dead at the scene by the Casey County Coroner and was not wearing a seat-belt. An autopsy will be performed today at the State Medical Examiner's office. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
Dobson was transported to Ephraim McDowell in Danville. She was wearing a seat-belt.
Jeremiah Cooper and his wife, (age unknown) Stephanie Cooper were airlifted to UK Hospital. The couples 4-year-old child (name unknown) was released to the care of a family friend by social services. The Coopers were wearing seatbelts and the child was in a child restraint device.
Tpr. Warinner was assisted at the scene by the Casey County Sheriff's Department, Rescue Squad, EMS, Coroner and the Clementsville Fire Department. The investigation is ongoing.

(Columbia, KY.) – Trooper Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred on Tuesday, May 10 at approximately 11:40 AM CST on Stoner Creek Rd in Taylor County. 54-year-old Carla Monday, of Liberty, was operating a westbound 2005 Saturn on Stoner Creek Rd, when she ran off the roadway, over an embankment and struck several trees. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Monday was reported missing by family members on Wednesday, May 11th after not showing up from work on Tuesday evening. She also never reported to her noon shift at Amazon.com on Tuesday. An extensive search of the route she was known to take to work, led to the discovery of the vehicle on Wednesday at approximately 5:40 PM EDT, over and down an embankment that made the vehicle difficult to see from the roadway. (Liberty, KY.) – Tpr. Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred Saturday, February 20, 2016 at approximately 7:26 PM CST at the intersection of KY 70 and US 127. 21-year-old Amber Sanders, of Dunville, KY, was operating an eastbound 2002 Chevy Cavalier on KY 70, west of Liberty, when she failed to stop at the intersection of US 127. Her vehicle traveled into the path of a 2011 Chevy Suburban traveling south on US 127. The Suburban, operated by 40-year-old Steven Faulkner, of Pleasureville, struck the Cavalier in the driver’s side.
Amber Sanders was transported to Casey County Hospital where she was pronounced dead. A passenger, Sanders 1-year-old daughter, was transported by EMS to University of Kentucky Hospital as a precaution for minor injuries. Amber Sanders was not belted.
Steven Faulkner and 2 passengers, 29-year-old Markie Pyles and 3-year-old Cooper Pyles, both of Sanders, KY were all wearing seatbelts and were not injured.

Coomer Road, 6 miles east of Columbia, off of KY 206. The explosion led to a house fire. Firefighters are still on the scene to prevent the fire from reigniting. State Police will secure the area through the night and investigators will begin working the scene early Tuesday morning. The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined. 1 fatality has been confirmed and 3 persons have not been accounted for at this time. Multiple local, state and federal agencies are assisiting in the investigation.

Two of the bodies were recovered outside the residence and two were recovered from within the residence. No identifications have been made at this time and the remains will be taken to the State Medical Examiner's office. The cause of the explosion and subsequent fire is still under investigation.

(Columbia, KY.) - The recovered remains of the 4 individuals are believed to be those of 60-year-old Mitchell Coomer; his wife, 52-year-old Lori Coomer; their granddaughter, 1-year-old Kinley Rodgers and 32-year-old Steven A. Keltner. The Coomers and Keltner are from Adair County. Kinley Rodgers had been living in Casey County. Investigators identified the individuals from evidence recovered from the scene and from surviving witness, 34-year-old Jason Coomer, the son of Mitchell Coomer. Jason Coomer was in the basement on the opposite side of the home from where the explosion occurred and was able to make it to safety sustaining minor injuries. Official confirmation on the remains from the State Medical Examiner is not expected until sometime next week after DNA test results are received. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
