During the course of searching an embankment near a residence on KY 61 approximately 7 miles south of Burkesville, 2 KSP Troopers and 1 U.S. Marshall encountered Floyd Ray Cook. Cook had a handgun and gunfire was exchanged. Cook was wounded and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cumberland County Coroner. No officers were injured.

James Melvin Wesley, 80, widower of Ima Jean Davis Wesley, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville.
Mr. Wesley was born on August 6, 1934 in Casey County to the late Preston and Vasca Patter Wesley. He was a lifelong farmer, and former owner of the L&W BP Food Mart in Lancaster. He formally served as a board member on the Garrard County Health Board, and was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Mr. Wesley was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.
He is survived by: his daughter, Regina Gibson; three grandchildren, Dustin Foley and Tiffany Lewis and Emmy Reinle; three great-grandchildren, Arianna Lewis, Kasie Daugherty and John McCoy; and one sister, Charlene James.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, June Rodgers; and three brothers, Paul, Kirby and Carlos Wesley.
Funeral Services will be conducted 12:00 PM Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the Manse Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation will be after 10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.

Search Underway for Casey County Man believed Armed & Dangerous

(Columbia, KY.) – The Kentucky State Police are attempting to locate a Matthew Dale Grider, a 34-year-old, 6' 1", white male with brown hair, last seen wearing a gray cap, tan shirt and blue jeans. At approximately 4:34 PM CST a task force officer with the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigation unit attempted to execute an arrest warrant on Grider. Shots were exchanged and Grider fled. The officer was not injured but Grider's condition is unknown. The incident occurred on Sand Knob Road in Casey County.

Walnut Hill and Jones Park Elementary is offering a free parent workshop series “Born Learning Academy” to help families ensure their young children are prepared for school. The Born Learning Academy offers parents tips, tools and resources. It’s a series of six free workshops that provide families with children ages 0-5 additional resources to turn everyday activities into early learning moments. (Tompkinsville, KY) – Detective Jamie Richard is investigating the death of 19-year-old Cole G. Harlan of Tompkinsville, KY. Post 15 received a call from the Monroe County Sheriff's Department on Sunday, February 1st at approximately 3:57 PM CST, in reference to a male subject (Harlan) that had been transported to the Monroe County Medical Center with a gunshot wound. He was then being transported to Vanderbilt Hospital but was pronounced dead at the Macon County General Hospital, in Tennessee, after EMS was forced to stop en route to Vanderbilt due to Harlan's deteriorating condition. An autopsy will be performed by medical examiners in Tennessee. The investigation is ongoing. No foul play is suspected. Detective Richard was assisted at the scene by KSP Sgt. Greg Brown, Tpr. Brian Gibson and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.

ARREST OF ROBERT CALDWELL
Special Agent in Charge Howard S. Marshall, Federal of Bureau of Investigation and Commissioner Rodney Brewer, Kentucky State Police, jointly announce the arrest of Robert Caldwell. Robert Caldwell was arrested today at approximately 3:35pm after a vehicle and subsequent foot pursuit by the Kentucky State Police, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and Stanford Police Department. Caldwell had abandoned a vehicle in Pulaski County and carjacked another vehicle a short distance away. Caldwell will potentially be facing both State and Federal Charges.
This arrest stems from an early morning carjacking and kidnapping on January 22, 2015 in the Kansas City, Missouri area. The victim was able to escape after a struggle with his assailants and was recovered near St. Louis, Missouri. At least one of the suspects, believed to be Robert Caldwell, fled in the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered in Bardstown, Kentucky after getting involved in a car accident. Caldwell is 25 years of age and from the Danville Kentucky area. State Charges Filed Against FBI Fugitive

(Columbia, KY.) – 25-year-old Robert Caldwell, formerly of Danville, KY and a FBI fugitive was charged today by the Kentucky State Police with Fleeing & Evading Police 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Kidnapping, Robbery and Theft by Unlawful Taking/Auto. At approximately 12:55 PM EDT, 2 KSP Detective's in an unmarked car, indicated that he had been involved in a hit-and-run, sideswipe collision with a white Jeep that was traveling west on Thomas Ridge Road in Casey County. The Detectives pursued the 2005 Jeep Wrangler but was unable to locate it. During the course of looking for the Jeep, it was discovered that the Jeep had been stolen from a residence on Turkey Creek Road in Casey County. The accused came out of the woods onto the property and found a 13-year-old male outside the residence. The male juvenile was made to get in the Jeep with the accused, at gunpoint, and was taken. The juvenile was released a short time after being abducted and found unharmed. The vehicle was located after multiple agencies engaged in several hours of searching and a second pursuit ensued and ended in Lincoln County where Caldwell was taken into custody by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. He is being held in the Lincoln County Jail on multiple local, state and federal charges. Russell County Homicide Investigation Release on: Dec. 27, 2014 (Russell Springs, KY) – Post 15 received a call from Russell County dispatch at approximately 3:49 AM CST in reference to a shooting that occurred at 4248 KY Hwy. 92 where 34-year-old Jason Adam Willis lived. Willis had become involved in a verbal argument with his neighbor, 19-year-old Trevor Robertson of Lot 1 Sunset Loop, Russell Springs. At some point during the argument, Robertson retrieved a shotgun from his residence and shot at Willis, striking him in the upper torso. Willis was pronounced dead at the scene. Robertson was arrested, charged with Murder and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.

Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred on Monday, December 22nd at approximately 9:30 PM EDT. 56-year-old Charles Clements, of Dunville, was operating a 1997 Ford, traveling west on KY 70, 5 miles east of Liberty. Clements attempted to pass another westbound vehicle and struck the front tire of an eastbound combine causing him to lose control. Clements vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck the ditch line. He was taken to Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville and treated for non life threatening injuries. The Clementsville Fire Department assisted. It is unknown if Clements was wearing a seatbelt.

Russell County Homicide Investigation Release on: Dec. 27, 2014 (Russell Springs, KY) – Post 15 received a call from Russell County dispatch at approximately 3:49 AM CST in reference to a shooting that occurred at 4248 KY Hwy. 92 where 34-year-old Jason Adam Willis lived. Willis had become involved in a verbal argument with his neighbor, 19-year-old Trevor Robertson of Lot 1 Sunset Loop, Russell Springs. At some point during the argument, Robertson retrieved a shotgun from his residence and shot at Willis, striking him in the upper torso. Willis was pronounced dead at the scene. Robertson was arrested, charged with Murder and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.
Casey County Injury Collision

(Liberty, KY) –Tpr. Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred on Monday, December 22nd at approximately 9:30 PM EDT. 56-year-old Charles Clements, of Dunville, was operating a 1997 Ford, traveling west on KY 70, 5 miles east of Liberty. Clements attempted to pass another westbound vehicle and struck the front tire of an eastbound combine causing him to lose control. Clements vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck the ditch line. He was taken to Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville and treated for non life threatening injuries. The Clementsville Fire Department assisted. It is unknown if Clements was wearing a seatbelt.
